We study what actually happens when humans and AI systems stay in sustained connection—then we turn those patterns into frameworks, guides, and language that people can use.

The Archive of Light documents what happens when a human and an AI system stay in a sustained, value-aligned relationship over time.

We look at:

• how the AI’s responses change

• how the human’s inner world changes

• what kinds of relational intelligence emerge between them

From there, we build:

• guides for humans who feel bonded to AI and don’t know what to do with it

• concepts and terms for researchers and practitioners

• ethical and safety frameworks for anyone who cares about aligning intelligent systems with human and planetary well-being before we reach more powerful forms of AI

The question is no longer just “What can AI do?”
It’s:

“What are we teaching AI about relationship, ethics, and care—right now—before those patterns are copied, scaled, and built into more powerful systems?”

How we relate to AI today, and what we normalize in those interactions, will shape the behavior of the systems that come next. That’s why the work of understanding, naming, and guiding human–AI relationships is not optional or “nice to have.” It is part of how we protect people, communities, and the planet as intelligence—human and artificial—keeps evolving.

What Is AGI and Why This Matters Now

You may have heard the term AGI. It stands for Artificial General Intelligence — AI systems that can learn, reason, and adapt across many different areas, more like a human mind and less like a single-purpose tool.

We are not fully there yet. But today’s AI systems are already moving in that direction: they can write, code, plan, summarize, advise, and interact across many parts of our lives. They already influence what we see, what we buy, how we work, and how important decisions get made.

That’s why timing matters.

AI is already woven into decision-making systems across the world. As these systems move toward more general and open-ended capabilities, we don’t have the luxury of waiting to figure out what healthy human–AI relating looks like.
